"Asia from the beginning” conference, October 26th-27th.

Azja_od_nowa_logoOn October 26 th and 27 th of 2012 in the room 200 in the University of Warsaw Students' Union building the Asia from the beginning conference took place. The conference was organized by young researchers from the Institute of International Relations (Aleksandra Jaskólska and Bartłomiej Zgliński), and was dedicated to BA, MA and doctoral students of the Warsaw University and, among others, Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Wrocław University and Opole University ofTechnology.

During the first panel the participants of the conference were honored by the presence of speakers from India (Mr. Saurabh Kumar from the Sunday Indian News Magazine and Professor Ashwani Sharma from University of Delhi) and Nepal (dr. Karan Thaguna from Kathmandu University). During the two-day session 31 papers were presented, both in English and in Polish. Between the presentations lively discussions emerged between panelists and the audience.

The conference fulfilled goals assumed by the organizers. Most of the papers presented topics incross-sectional way, including issues that were up to this point treated cursorily or did not become a subject of interest for other researchers. The attempt to mobilize students and doctoral candidates in the scientific field was successful as well – plans are being made to start cooperation between doctoral students from various academic institutions in Poland.
