Seminar in Warsaw, May 18th 2012: Lions from Damascus: foreign policy of Al-Asad dynasty


On 18th May, 17.30-19.00, Section of Non-European Area Studies IIR and CCIRS IIR organized third seminar dedicated to foreign policy of Middle East countries.  The topic of the seminar: Lions from Damascus: foreign policy of Al-Assad dynasty with dr Marta Woźniak, University of Lodz .
Dr. Marta Woźniak during her presentation focused on: determinants of the foreign policy of Al-Assad dynasty, Syrian armed intervention in Lebanon, Syria -Iran, Iraq, US and Israel foreign relations, changing of foreign policy (after Hafez al Assad death) under Bashar al Assad legacy. Dr. Woźniak also made comments about contemporary situation in Syria (Arab Spring).
In the seminar participated scholars and students from Institute of International Relations UW : dr. Anna Solarz, dr. Wiesław Lizak, dr. Bogusław Zaleski, dr. Jakub Zajączkowski, Aleksandra Jaskólska, Justyna Kłaczany, Artur Malantowicz and ·dr. Marcin Solarz (Institute of Regional and Global Studies).
Seminar took place in CCIRS office: Hotel Harenda, Krakowskie Przedmieście 4/6, room 212.
